On Sunday 5 August 2007, Dr. Mohammed al-Hussein, minister of finance, put the cornerstone of Arabian Institution for Insurance. In presence of Secretary of Rural Damascus branch of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party, governor of Damascus, General Secretary of Public Arabian Union for Insurance, Abd al-Khalek Raauf Khalil. Besides to presence of Mr. Suliman al-Hassan, President of Public Arabian Union for Insurance, Dr. Abd al-Latif Abud, President of Insurance Supervision Commission, directors of insurance companies, Mr. Faisal al-Kasemy, president of Emirate Society for Insurance, and number of interested and official personalities.
 
Dr. al-Hussein assured that, this is the first and the only institution in the Arab land, which is considered under the supervision of Public Arabian Union for Insurance and under the patronage of Arabian University. The institution will be opened before all cadres that are interested to work in this sector, and will give the opportunity to the Syrian and Arabian young people to participate in the training courses and programs which help to create new skills.
He added that the Syrian government afforded a great promotion in allocating the ground in order to build the institution to be indeed through two years.
It’s mentioned that the insurance companies in Arab land will participate in this institution which is considered an Arabian sharing company, and all the Syrian companies have the opportunity to participate in the capital of this institution.
