Ministry of Finance holds a definitional workshop on the new financial and accounting systems [1]Dr. Mohammed al-Hussein, minister of finance, opened on Saturday 26 January,2008 in the Ministry of Finance, a definitional workshop concerns of the new financial and accounting systems which includes regulating the financial and accounting affairs of public bodies of administrative nature, local administrative units and endowment directorates. Dr. Mohammed al-Hussein, minister of finance, opened on Saturday 26 January,2008 in the Ministry of Finance, a definitional workshop concerns of the new financial and accounting systems which includes regulating the financial and accounting affairs of public bodies of administrative nature, local administrative units and endowment directorates. The Minister pointed out that these decrees, which include new accounting standards, are for the first time in Syrian Accounting System. The minister referred to the importance of implementing theses decrees properly.
Dr. al-Hussein said that, these decrees will come into force when the New Financial Law become effective in 1 January, 2008 simultaneously with the government directions to improve the financial sector. He referred that the ministry became the responsible of administrating the public expenditure and improving the financial sector because its importance in the economic and social development process in Syria. He also assured that, there will be another workshops in the rest of Syrian governorates.
The workshop discussed the way of implementing and executing decree No. 489 that includes financial system of public bodies of economic nature, decree No. 490 concerns of the accounting system and executing the provisions of decree No. 54 which includes Primary Financial Law. It discussed also how long the accounting system agrees with the international standards and financial lists, besides to the financial system of public bodies of economic nature, in addition to, introducing the decree that concerns of regulating the accounting and financial affairs of public bodies of administrative nature.
The workshop referred to the next stage of ministry's activities on the accounting systems in all governorates, beside to the specialized training programs.
