Planning & Statistics Department carries out the following assignments:
1. Carry out planning and statistics works in the Ministry, especially the following:
A. Implement instructions issued by State’s Planning Commission and the Ministry about plan preparation regarding time stages and programs.
B. Carry out the necessary studies to define the Ministry’s needs relating to investment projects in coordination with the competent Departments –when necessary- and arrange the contracts relating to big projects and follow-up their implementation.
C. Posit draft of Ministry’s investment plan, including scientific delegating plan and labor demand plan. This in coordination with plans of bodies subordinating to it or attached to the Minister.
D. Participate State’s Planning Commission and the other competent bodies in the study of the Ministry’s plan.
E. Prepare draft of the Ministry’s work plan according to the plans coming from the Ministry’s competent Department, follow-up implementation of Ministry’s plans and programs, and assemble data relating to it and study them paying attention to the extent of realizing their supposed purposes. 
     
2. Present the statistic information that serve the state’s plan objectives, and support the operation of building the unified statistic system of the country.

3. Handle financial and economical relationships with international and Arabic organizations in cooperation with the competent Departments in the Ministry.

4. In general, handle everything relating to planning and statistics and not part of other Departments’ specializations.
