Taxation Inquiry Department carries out the following assignments:
1. Assemble the necessary information about natural and legal persons charged with financial taxes and duties. Define people charged with those taxes and duties. Follow-up taxable objects and uncover the hidden ones in execution of the effective laws.

2. Supervise works and procedures relating to Taxation Inquiry implementation and information assembling, and practice what is related to it of those works and procedures –when necessary.

3. Prepare drafts of decisions, instructions and guiding and regulating books controlling business’ progress in Taxation Inquiry services.

4. Prepare drafts of communiqués, instructions and books defining the nature of information to be provided to Taxation Inquiry services, in coordination with the bodies concerned in those information, and handle all the relevant correspondences.

5. Follow-up all official and non-official bodies to send their information about taxes and financial duties payers to Taxation Inquiry services, particularly the following bodies and information:

A. Customs declarations and internal and external contracts made by public bodies of administrative or economic nature and the popular organizations with private sector’s individuals or companies.
B. Banks, Notaries, Social Insurances Institution and Arab Institution for Advertising.
C. Bodies entitled to grant licenses of practicing professions and crafts as well as building licenses.
D. Bodies entitled to register agents, companies, patents and properties’ sales.
E. Bodies entitled to grant commercial, industrial and agricultural registries.
F. Syndicates and trade unions.
G. Constrain real estate rental contracts to foreigners.
H. Private sector’s purchases from public and mixed sectors.

  
6. Prepare periodical studies and reports about developments happening to capitals’ investment trends, to all prices, materials and commodities and to flourish or recession of all or some professions and crafts practiced in the country during successive periods of time, in coordination with the competent bodies. Then, analyze those developments’ causes and results as well as their taxation effects and circulate them to the relevant financial bodies.

7. Prepare plans and programs for comprehensive field survey of all taxes and duties payers, in order to define the number of those taxpayers and their workplaces, as well as operations of investigating new information about them and periodical supervision for taxable objects to uncover what is hidden of them.

8. Carry out technical guidance of Taxation Inquiry services working in the governorates’ Directorates of finance. Arrange their agents’ plans and programs- including methods of arranging qualitative indexes and cards for taxes and financial duties payers. That will enable defining the number of each tax or duty payers separately, and help preparing statistical tables, and supply Collecting Section with the necessary information about the place of the General Treasury’s debtors’ money that implementing procedures can be taken against.


9. Follow-up development of all legislations and general  regulation that affect negatively or positively the taxable objectives or trends of capitals’ investment and developing work trends of Taxation Inquiry services in concordance with the provisions of those legislations and regulations.
10. Prepare periodical progress reports about business in inquiring services and present them to the Minister with the suggestions aiming at improving work methods.

11. Suggest habilitation and training programs relating to Taxation Inquiry services.

12. Prepare the Department’s annual plan.

13. Suggest granting compensations to the agents working in Taxation Inquiry services including responsibility compensation.

14. Handle reports incoming from inspection and supervision bodies regarding Taxation Inquiry services, according to a demand from Internal Supervision Department, and in coordination with it, and follow-up their implementation.

15. Prepare forms of registries and printings necessary to the work of Taxation Inquiry services.
