On Tuesday 24 June, 2008, in the Ministry of Finance with the presence of Dr. Mohammed al-Hussein, Minister of Finance and head of Syrian side in the Syrian –Romanian joint committee, Dr. Amer Lutfi, Minister of Economy, and Dr. Varujan Vosganian, Romanian Minister of Economy and Finance and head of Romanian side in the joint committee, three agreements has been signed with Romania including the Agreement of encouraging and protecting investment, the Agreement of avoiding the double taxation and the Agreement of exempting the diplomatic missions in both countries from the Value Added Tax (VAT). Dr. Mohammed al-Hussein, minister of finance, opened on Saturday 26 January,2008 in the Ministry of Finance, a definitional workshop concerns of the new financial and accounting systems which includes regulating the financial and accounting affairs of public bodies of administrative nature, local administrative units and endowment directorates. The Minister pointed out that these decrees, which include new accounting standards, are for the first time in Syrian Accounting System. Public Customs Administration generalized to its departments the approval of economic committee that includes adopting the agreed basics with a fuel company in order to provide passing tracks to Syria with the global price of gas oil… whereas the Customs Houses in Yaroubia, Tannf and al-Boukamal will be informed at the beginning of each month with the global price of gas oil that defined by the fuel companies, which was for this month about 40 SP.
