Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Rateb al-Shallah discussed on Tuesday 30 October 2007, with head of the Malaysian delegation visiting Syria and Deputy Chairman of the Malaysian Industrial Development Department Dato' Jalilah Baba, the cooperation between chambers of commerce in Syria and Malaysia and the need to strengthen them to benefit the people of the two countries.
Al-Shalah affirmed that the Syrian Chamber of Commerce is keen on making use of the Malaysian experience and successes, pointing out to the joint projects and trade agreements taking place in Syria. He alsogave a presentation on the steps taken by Syria in the economic development and reform process.
For her part, the head of the Malaysian delegation expressed her admiration of Syria's achievements in development and reform, pointing out to the important role of the chamber of commerce in development and trade. She added that the Malaysian projects in Syria have come as a result of the advanced relations between the two countries.
